OPB seeks a general assignment reporter to join our growing story-first newsroom to produce multiple stories a day for broadcast and digital media. This is a full-time, regular status, non-exempt position with benefits.
The General Assignment Reporter/Producer researches, reports and produces multiple news stories daily for digital, social and broadcast media. In the digital-first world of breaking news, this reporter will turn around copy quickly for the web and social media and produce fast turn-around copy and spot news for broadcast. The reporter/producer records and edits material on a digital audio workstation, interviews newsmakers, and works with the news and web staff to ensure that the news of the day is well represented online and in newscasts in a timely manner. This reporter also produces material for national networks.
The reporter will work primarily in the office though occasionally will report from the field. Their shift will include at least one weekend day and will begin at 7am. The work may require travel to remote locations and possibly working in inclement weather. Lifting and carrying equipment up to 20 pounds is sometimes required.
